Oh yeah! We are back into summer, and its none of that mild december bullshit 12 months ago mind you. I'm not sure if it has cracked 40 yet, but when i stupidly park my car in full sun and get into it 5 hours later, it must crack 50.
So here is a top 10 list of things to do when it is too fucken hot. 1. Find a room with aircon. 2. Find liz already in that room with aircon. 3. Watch foxtel in that room for hours. 4. Drink water, ohhh bottled water in the fridge! 5. Wait until 9pm when the sun goes down and become more active. 6. Wish i met liz a few summers before they filled in their backyard pool:) 7. Laugh to myself when considering just weeks ago Liz was in -25° Siberia 8. Wear the totally gangster 1980s "basketball" jacket liz bought for me in scotland! 9. Wish i didn't have scottish blood and a hairy scottish body! 10. Reneg on my $50 deal with Gene not to shave my head when the dream of long, Aragorn hair dwindled...
Yen man, i transferred a casual 5-0 into your account, i hope you can find a way to spend it o.s.
Other things to do is by lots of icy-poles at the shops.
and sing and dance to Inner Circle's Sweat!
PS. Kate, as long as you are in exotic WA i expect you to bloggy blog blog
'I'm Melting' said the wicked witch of the North...
It is boiling in Geraldton. I like to wear way too many layers of clothes to survive up here. I am being mocked by locals for being unable to take the heat because I'm from 'down south'. Because Perth is so damned close to Antarctica.
Tomorrow I may go to the pool.
Is it legitimate to post on a Perth blog when you're 500km away? I laugh in the face of the Blog Rules.....
How the hell do you get a cold during summer? I wonder when i call in sick to work tomorrow if they will actually believe me? honestly, it is not a hangover.
5 Ferrero Rochers; A Fruit Mince Pie; 2 chocolates from a box the size of a suitcase (kind thanks to Australia Post); 2 Christmas ‘Easter Eggs’; A mini candy cane; and 8 pieces of sushi.
Although the last item falls into the category of ‘lunch’ the net result is that I am likely to lapse into a sugar-induced coma sometime in the next 5 minutes. I am also staring at a packet of Kinder bars, a packet of Raffaello chocolates and a mini box of Favourites that have been given to me as Christmas gifts from co workers. I have already eaten the chocolate gifts that I received yesterday.
I think I’m going to be sick.
(I have also looked at a co-workers wedding album. She made me wear gloves to turn the pages. Seriously. Little white gloves.)
Hello Folks I am starting my posts on Perth Blog as of now. I am very enthusiastic. I have never blogged before, believing that no one would be particularly interested in anything I do. However, the content of this blog leads me to believe that I may have been mistaken in that assumption.
I don’t think I’ll read listsanddiagrams.com for a while. I will be too intimidated.
I get the impression that Macca is keen for me to blog because Liz gets back tomorrow and he doesn’t want this page to be completely neglected. I’m here to pick up the slack.
So how is my summer going so far?
I work in marketing at your friendly local electricity utility. Not in the glamour part (has anyone seen the new commercials? Very special) but in the nuts and bolts product research area. It often involves maths.
For those of you who wonder how many products an electricity supplier has, it isn’t just one. It’s dozens. All based around the notion of making electricity more interesting for consumers.
As part of my product research I should ask – just how interested are you in your electricity?
Allen Iverson is currently the NBA's leading scorer. Over his 11 year career so far, he has averaged 28 points per game. He played every game of those 11 years for the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him first overall in 1996 above Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Ray Allen and Todd Fuller.
All off-season there were rumoured Iverson trades being negotiated, but he suited up at the start of the season in his familiar #3 Sixers jersey. Then just over a week ago, the media was flooded with fresh gossip, with Iverson officially demanding a trade from the league's bottom team.
Every day after work i have checked the travellers' blogs, then straight to NBA.com to see if he had been traded while i was at work.
The official trade was Denver acquires Allen Iverson and Ivan McFarlin Philadelphia acquires Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 1st round picks in next years draft
Phillyhad to move iverson, and Miller isn't a bad initial return. Ranked 3rd in the NBA in assists with 9.1 per game, Miller is a fundemental point guard where iverson was not. That helps. Joe Smith was the #1 draft pick in 1995, but that was as good as he ever got. the sixers just want his expiring contract. But the key for Philly here is the two first round picks. Denver will make the playoffs, so one of these will be late in the first round for sure. But the other may fall higher, and then Philly has its own shitty record-boosted pick. It's tipped to be a hot draft next year, highlighted by Greg Oden and some other dude. Write this season off, but get ready for a new era of Philly bball.
Denver now has a hot starting five on paper C - Marcus Camby PF - Kenyon Martin SF - Carmelo Anthony SG - JR Smith PG - Allen Iverson
They could start iverson at SG and promote Earl Boykins into the starting line up at the point. The main problem with this is that their average backcourt height is 5'8":)
Denver is more explosive on offense now than really explosive shit.
Fark! This morning i was telling customers that the worst of the christmas season was over, and that we were gonna be pretty quiet seeing the week out. With the benefit of hindsight, i can safely say that i was talking dickhead. We were ultima-inundated with old wogs, busy busy businesses and Deborah Kennedy.
Yes! Deborah "ABC Newsreader of the Century*" Kennedy came to my til and asked me if we had any of the small panettones (italian christmas cakes) left. "Ms Kennedy, i'm afraid our panettone stock near sells out by november. All we have left is a pretty miserable excuse for a range" i replied. Smooth? Damn right! She was stoked that i recognized her, and we chatted about her recent trip to Tuscany.
James "A-List" MacNeil!
I also mopped up where someone dropped a glass jar of sour cherries, and helped Augusto load cartons of Baci chocolates in his car. In between wigging out at the checkout:)
Last night i tried to style my hair and made it lop-sided like CJ's "Wedge Cut" in San Andreas. Pretty funny, but dad neatened it up for me... Gene, i am still committed to the Aragorn! I almost came close to wiring you the 50.
Life has been pretty busy recently. i've been forced to leave my box-ticking/box-packing department to jockey the cash registers at european foods because - to quote my awestruck workmates - "you're soo (sic) fucken fast, your fingers are a blur, the customers love you, you're a hero!" You can accuse me of lying if you please, but the truth is that i am a checkout chick once again. Hot.
On Friday night i drove the great northern highway for the 2nd straight weekend to see Xavier Rudd play at Belvoir Ampitheatre. What an odd crowd! Conservatives and Claremont girls, Bush Pigs and Swamp Donkeys, my mum, aunt, sister and i... We sat on a terrace halfway down but unfortunately couldn't see his animated face, loosing some of his trademark energy. However the whole place was vibing, so i enjoyed the goodtimes.
Yesterday Kate celebrated her 22nd in the park, and i enjoyed those goodtimes as well. I think i have almost arranged a blogging partner for your blog-reading pleasures:)
more info coming soon
and as this post's title suggests, i am off to the cricket today! Mum went in early with dad to snare good seats in the members stand, and i am going to swap with her pass as soon as i finish blogging, put some clothes on, walk into northbridge to find my car i left overnight, and get down there.
this weekend was big. After cracking another 50hr week, this weekend saw both the European Foods Unofficial Christmas Party and Justin's 2nd Annual Manji Party (it has a proper title, i think). Goodtimes. Too much boozing.
People were hooking in at both functions! Can you feel the love:)
Normally on Tuesdays i go to the Claremont School of Art and take a night class in traditional Titian-esque oil painting, but last week i didn't go cause i'd just seen the Vartley tour leave perth, and this week i really need my night free. I am out of orange juice and milk, and being away from home for 14 hours in my day leaves me pretty off-centred.
So i plan to relax for now, then go to jinglewood dewsons, then watch some tv.
For most part, today was a) a pretty standard work day; b) steph's birthday; c) Jay-Z's birthday; or d) all of the above.
Well, actually, it wasn't a very standard work day considering i worked for 10 hours! The Dispatch department decided that every day up until christmas we will continue operations an extra hour to keep up with demand. I informed them that on tuesdays i would be unable to do this because i have my oil painting class in claremont at 6pm, but i informed myself that that extra hour means extra ca$h! And until liz gets back, the best thing in my life is buying power! Followed by tom.
I wrote some notes after work to make sure this post was wicked and interesting, but before i get any further i must blog that
Today was Steph's 21st Birthday!
Happy birthday steph:)
Steph and her friends travelling in the Perth region met for dinner, drinks and celebrations at Little Creatures, and i had a great time:)
Apologies to Jay-Z for missing his party, but steph's a closer friend.
Ahh, fuck posting anything more. I can mention Joe Wok (Jo Quoc) and his chewies, Studio Rent, and Omer's Car Crash next time.
Cool, this weekend Daylight Saving finally kicked in, and - as if to emphasize the matter - i forgot to close my east-facing bedroom blinds and cooked in my sheets at sunrise. Also, a fuckingfly kept landing on my back and face while i tried to sleep in, so i guess summer's really here. Not for you guys up in the northern hemisphere, tho.
I bloody missed campbell's grad show opening on friday night because Colm, Tom and i went to the Rosemount for a few beers and then got out some shit videos from the video shop. Yesterday i cleaned the upstairs bathroom and a percentage of the kitchen (because that's all that you can possibly do). The last time they were cleaned was ages ago. Not even for rent inspection. We failed that.
Saturday i watched some videos with Bron and caught the final glass house (which i had earlier missed) on ABC2. Digital TV owns!
Hey, gwen stefani has a new album. Pretty exciting weekend.
Next weekend is Work XXXmas Party and Yuppie's Annual Swan Valley party, then the following one is Xavier Rudd at Belvoir and something else i think.
